Problems with Shortcuts

Good evening readers! For launching certain frequently used applications, we use shortcuts. The shortcut files which are generally present in the desktop have the format of ‘.lnk’. There is a rare problem which occurs with this shortcut files because of the user error. It is when the user right clicks the shortcut and changing the default “open with” application. This makes all the ‘.lnk’ files (all the shortcuts) to open with that particular application. Thus, the shortcut will not open the application it intends to. This issue can be corrected in many ways.
Right click on the shortcut and go to properties.

Now, type the correct application path which the shortcut needs to open in the Target.

But, this process seems very tedious and time consuming as in our problem, we need to change the path of all shortcuts.

Another method to correct this problem is to uninstall the application which was set as the default launcher of the shortcut (‘.lnk’) file. Once you uninstall the application, all the shortcuts get automatically changed to open the intended application correctly.
There is a problem in this method. If the Windows inbuilt applications like Windows Media Player or Internet explorer is chosen as the default launchers, they cannot be uninstalled.
Now, let us see how to tackle this problem. Although these applications cannot be uninstalled, they can be Disabled. This is done as follows,
Step1: Go to My computer and go to Uninstall or change a program.

If it is not found there, go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features

Step 2: Go to the Turn Windows features on or off

Step 3: Now, uncheck the application which you need to disable.

That’s it guys! Your problem is fixed. Good luck!

Choosing the right wireless Network card

Top Wireless Network Adapter Manufacturers

1.Cisco
2.Linksys
3.D-Link
4.Netgear
5.Huawei
6.Belkin
7.Buffalo
8.Airlink
9.Asus
10.3com
11.Atheros
12.Intel

Selecting the right Ethernet network module card depends on several factors. When selecting an Ethernet network module card, users should always look at the following:

Link speed. Most networks operate on 10 or 100 megabit speeds, although newer devices may be designed to run at 1,000 megabits or a Gigabit. This is common for network routers, switches, and those peripherals that drive connectivity. Higher speeds allow these devices to deliver better performance through the computers. When connecting a computer to a high-speed network, it is vital to have a network card that can handle these kinds of high-speed connections. If not, the user will not be able to take advantage of the enhanced connection speed and the computer will function more slowly than other devices or will have problems communicating with the network.

Interface. There are several types of interfaces available with network cards, and choosing the right one is very important if the computer is to communicate with the network. Available interfaces include Peripheral Component Interconnect or PCI, PCI Express, and Universal Serial Bus or USB models. A USB device is hooked up to the computer externally through the USB connector port. PCI and PCI express devices require the user to open the computer and install a network card in an available slot.

Operating system. The operating system, or OS, for the computer is also an important consideration when choosing a network card. If the operating system for the computer is Windows, Linux, Apple, or some other system, the network card must be able to communicate with this system or the card will not work. Even within operating systems, network cards can have difficulties communicating. For example, some older network cards do not work with newer versions of Windows.

Purpose. It is relatively easy to ensure that the OS and interface of a network card are right. It requires more subtle reasoning to narrow the purpose of the network card. If a computer is to be used primarily for video or gaming, certain network cards may not be appropriate to support these byte-heavy activities. Integrated network cards may serve gamers and music or video lovers more effectively than cards designed to primarily handle business data.

Additional software. Some network cards contain additional programs that help the card function more effectively. It is usually wise to choose network cards from reputable companies to get the best software programs.

My suggestion is that if you are buying a Laptop or PC, go for Intel Wireless cards.see the specifications while buying a PC. Intel WiFi cards support WiDi (Wireless Display) and additional softwares compatible to Linux programs. Wireless Network Adapters or WiFi cards are available for both USB and PCI. Buying Wireless Routers are similar to it.

Amazing secrets of Hindu Temples!

As I am in India, Good evening viewers! Today, let me say some interesting facts about the temples of Hindus. Clearly, this article is only for knowledge and not to offend any communal beliefs of any individuals or groups. Up to the knowledge of the world, temples are just the places where the people go and worship the god according to their communal beliefs. But, the Hindu temples are not just the places of beliefs and worships. They have some unimaginable science, some great culture and brilliance behind them. Move to the edge of your seats and start reading!

~In the temples of Hindus, some metal spheres can be found at the top of towers over the statues of god. People kept 9 important grains like Rice, Wheat and Paddy etc. in these metal spheres above the temple towers. At the ancient times, there were no dams and the rivers flew without any hurdles. So, even if the flood destroys all the cultivated farm lands, the grains in metal spheres can be used again for cultivation. As the temple towers are very high and strong, flood will not cause any damage to the grains over there.

~Also, these metal spheres act as lightning absorbers! Yes, they absorb the electricity from the lightning and ground them through the towers. This saves the area of almost 10 to 15 miles around the tower (This area depends on the height of the tower) from lightning.

~It is well known that Hinduism has the "Idol worship". Behind this also, there lies a scientific reason. Everyone who read physics in their schooling, know about Resonance. The statues which are in the shape of Human body are kept at the center of the space directly below the high towers. This region is of very high pressure. Some cultural and communal formalities are there in Hinduism to pour Milk, Sandal and many other particles over these Idols frequently. During this period, all the worshippers are asked to stand in the region below the towers (High pressure region). At this time, due to resonance between the human body and the idol, the entire energy of the materials poured on the Idol gets transferred to the people in that region!

~Hindu temples consist of 9 small statues (Navagraham) which denotes the 9 planets of the solar system. It matters as they were built thousands of years ago before the invention of telescopes!

~The temples also generate a high degree of positive vibrations and provide great concentration. So, the ancient Hindu saints used temples as their meditation spots!

~The temples were used to hide the secrets through stone scripts and sculptures. Ancient kings used temples as the medium to communicate with their younger generations to tell about the treasures of their period buried somewhere in their country to protect it from the burglars!

~Temples also have secret underground passages which the Hindu kings used to travel to some other places during the times of war!

~Temples were also considered as the civil and cultural prestige of the kingdom. So, the Kings spent most of their wealth to build and maintain temple!

Some Existing Examples:

~Pragadheeshwara temple at Tanjore, Tamilnadu, India was built thousand years ago by king Rajaraja chola. It was built such that, the statue of the temple tower does not falls on the land!

~Saneeshwarar (Saturn God) temple at Thirunellar, Tamilnadu, India was built several hundreds of years ago at the place where the radiation of Saturn falls directly on the earth. It was found only few years ago as a NASA satellite stopped a moment directly above the tower of Saneeshwarar temple!

~It has been said that, the statue of lord Shiva (Sivalingam) at the Pragaladhanadhar temple in India remained at some height above the ground (Hanging without any support) until the entry of King Gajini mohammed!

Many facts are still undiscovered about the temples. Knowing about them make us to amaze and no words to explain the brilliance of our ancestors!

See you tomorrow with another useful post. Have a great time!

How to remove the shortcut virus?

Well! At present, all the advanced antivirus softwares remove all the latest and dangerous viruses that harm the system, but not this simple and tricky “shortcut virus”. The shortcut virus is one, which converts all the folders and files in a removable disk to shortcuts. You may get confused because even if it gets detected and removed from the removable disk, it still affects all the removable media inserted in to the system. The reason behind this fact is as follows.
The shortcut virus infects a pendrive or any removable disk and when that particular disk is inserted into the system it affects the ’c:’ drive. Once it affects the ‘c:’ drive of a system, all the removable media inserted in the system will get infected and through that infected media, it affects other systems and so on. So, even if it is detected and removed from a removable disk, it still stays in the ‘c:’ drive and affects all the removable media inserted into the system.
The only successful way to remove this virus is to do it manually. No need to worry. This is not a big issue and can be done simply as follows.

Step 1: Start the system in safe mode. You can do this by simply switching OFF (Long press the power button) the system without shutting it down. Now, if the system is switched ON you can find an option to login through safe mode. You can also do this through control panel.

Step 2: Remove the infected removable disk, if it is connected to the system.

Step 3: Go to the Start menu.

Step 4: In the search box, type ‘msconfig’ and press ENTER.

Note: If you do this without starting up in safe mode, the msconfig window will close automatically.

Step 5: In the msconfig window, go to ‘Startup’ tab.

Step 6: In the stratup tab, find the files which have java extension '.js' (from the command). It will have ”Startup Item” name like ‘7sbd’ or some similar meaningless names. The Manufacturer will be ‘Unknown’.

Step 7: For such items, note where it is stored (The path can be found in the Command).

Step 8: Go to the location shown in the command path.

Note: If it is not found in the location, try these steps. Press F10 key and go to Tools -> Folder options. In the Folder options window, go to ‘View’ tab. Check the box “Show hidden files, folders and drives”. You can find this in the ‘Advanced settings’ area. Now, you can find the virus file in the location shown.

Step 9: Permanently delete the file (Shift+Delete).

Step 10: Now, again go and check the msconfig window. The Startup item will not be there. That is our Success!

Note: If the Startup item is still there, try this out. Go to start menu and type ‘cmd’ in the search box and press ENTER. In the command prompt, type the following command

rmdir c:\specified command path

To protect yourself from the further attacks, install “USB Disk security” or “SMADAV” Antivirus.

Good luck!
